When we think about reinterpreting the bazaar in a modern context, its traditional character of temporary, autonomous, public and open can not be neglected.
Thus, the new spatial organization “pliable-wall” of the Yenikapi Istasyonu station square responds to the flexibility of traditional bazaar. By pushing the continuous “shelf wall”, people can create infinite spatial possibilities. The market can be meanwhile a park, a cafe, a playground and a warehouse, almost everything you want.
This proposal aims not only to explore the spatial possibility of a flexible platform for selling and purchasing but also to create a public zone where local people can maximize their autonomy.
